Please refer to the above link. As the carpet is placed outside the house, you can use a red carpet at the south facing side.
Generally, red is considered an auspicious color. While blue (to avoid) would clash with that sector.

Here, the original idea of the triangle effect is to neutralise e.g. a metallic pole e.g. a flag pole or a street lamp that is perpendicular or tangent to the main entrance (mid-point).
Two flag poles (i.e. plants can be used) to form a triangle i.e. if one can imagine, the three objects form a triangle.
If one looks carefully, from top down view, it looks like a triangle from the air. Here, the triangle faces outwards of the house.

Yes, you can do this. But avoid, tall thin trees that act as a poison arrow. Where possible the tree trunk is low and mostly, covered with leaves.
